We’re seeking a motivated Production Assistant to join our manufacturing team and support the production of high-quality biological products. Job Purpose:

The Insectary Production Assistant is responsible for performing various tasks related to producing AgBiTech’s biological insecticides, including machine operation, quality control, and general production procedures. The Production Assistant will work closely with the production team and follow SOPs to ensure smooth operations and timely production output.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

The Production Assistant will:

  • Work closely with the production team to maintain a large colony of moths and caterpillars, including detailed processes to support each stage of the insect life cycle.
  • Operate customized equipment and machinery used to undertake various processes of insect rearing.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPS) and work instructions to maintain consistency and efficiency in production processes.
  • Accurately record production data and maintain production records for reporting purposes.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and production area.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure processes are completed efficiently and meet company standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including cleaning production areas, storing tools and equipment properly, and disposing of waste in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Adhere to all workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Support other production tasks as needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborations with AgBiTech colleagues.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently, alone or as part of a team
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to measure and calculate dimensions accurately
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPS)
  • Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to get along well with others
  • Ability to contribute to process improvement
  • Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods of time, and working in a fast paced environment
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, weekends, and overtime as required

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged standing and repetitive motions, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling
  • May be required to frequently lift up to 60 lbs
  • Hand dexterity and strength
  • Required to wear a lightweight hooded respirator while working in a humid environment for some job related tasks
