About This Position

Industrial Painter/Industrial Sandblaster
Comtech Industries is looking for a qualified industrial sandblaster and a qualified industrial painter. These are two separate positions. Having one or both skills is acceptable. The candidate/s will be performing work on water storage tanks in the field. Candidate/s must have experience in industrial painting and/or sandblasting.
Key Job Responsibilities (Sandblaster)
  • Surface Preparation: Mask, tape, or clean areas to protect surfaces not being blasted.
  • Equipment Operation: Set up, operate, and adjust high-pressure sandblasting machines.
  • Abrasive Blasting: Remove rust, corrosion, paint, and contaminants from industrial equipment.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on nozzles, hoses, and machines.
  • Skills: Proficiency with sandblasting equipment, pneumatic tools, spray guns, and knowledge of coating types.
  • Safety Compliance: Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators and protective clothing, while working in manufacturing, shipyards, or construction sites.
Key Job Responsibilities (Painter)
  • Surface Preparation: Cleaning surfaces to ensure proper adhesion.
  • Coating Application: Operating spray guns, brushes, or rollers to apply high-performance coatings like epoxies, urethanes, and enamels
  • Material Prep: Mixing paints, coatings, and solvents according to technical data sheets.
  • Quality Control: Inspecting parts for defects, ensuring proper thickness, and verifying color match.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Cleaning and maintaining spray guns, blast pots, and spray booths to prevent clogging or contamination.
  • Safety Adherence: Wearing respirators and protective clothing, managing hazardous waste, and ensuring proper ventilation.
Requirements – Qualifications/Skills/Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability and willingness to work approximately 50-60 hours per week including weekends.
  • Overnight travel for extended periods will be required and per diem will be provided.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods, in all weather conditions, lift 50 pounds and walk up and down stairs and ladders
  • Strong team player with effective organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively
