In this role, you will support the Culinary Services Director while leading a team that brings joy and dignity to every meal served.
Position Overview
The Chef Manager plays a vital leadership role in ensuring our kitchen operates smoothly, safely, and with heart. You will work side-by-side with your team, guiding food preparation and service while fostering a positive, respectful environment for residents and staff alike.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with the Culinary Services Director to create a welcoming and efficient kitchen
- Help hire, train, and mentor culinary team members with patience and encouragement
- Assist in planning menus that are both nutritious and enjoyable
- Oversee meal preparation and service with attention to quality and presentation
- Ensure all health, safety, and sanitation standards are consistently met
- Step in to lead the kitchen when the Director is unavailable
- Support your team by working alongside them in cooking, prep, and daily kitchen tasks
- Build positive relationships with residents, families, and coworkers
- Help create a dining experience that residents look forward to each day
What You Bring
- Experience leading or supervising a culinary team (healthcare or senior living preferred)
- A genuine love for cooking and serving others
- Strong organization skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- Clear and compassionate communication skills
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- A commitment to cleanliness, safety, and high standards
Education & Experience
- Culinary, hospitality, or restaurant management training preferred
- Food safety and sanitation training a plus
- Experience in healthcare or senior living environments is highly valued
