Position Overview
The Meat Cutter is responsible for preparing, cutting, packaging, and merchandising meat products according to Lynn’s Inc. & Affiliates quality and merchandising standards. This role supports the daily operations of the meat department by ensuring proper product handling, freshness, food safety compliance, and attractive product presentation for customers.
The Meat Cutter reports to the Meat Department Manager and works as part of the department team to maintain product quality, department organization, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities
Meat Processing & Product Preparation
- Inspect, cut, and trim meat products according to company cutting and quality standards.
- Prepare fresh ground meat daily following store standards for freshness and quality.
- Maintain Fresh Ground Meat Grinding Logs according to company procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge of proper handling, preparation, and cooking methods for meat products.
Product Packaging & Merchandising
- Wrap, label, and price meat products for display and sale.
- Stock fresh, smoked, and frozen meat products in department display cases.
- Set up, face, and maintain retail meat cases according to department standards.
- Assist with cross merchandising and seasonal promotional displays within the department.
Inventory & Receiving Support
- Assist with receiving and inspecting product and supply deliveries.
- Rotate products and monitor freshness in coolers, freezers, and retail cases.
- Assist with department inventories when requested by department leadership.
Customer Service
- Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with product selection, questions, and special orders.
- Maintain knowledge of meat products and preparation methods to assist customers.
- Ensure customers receive friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful service within the department.
Sanitation & Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Clean and sanitize cutting equipment, preparation areas, and department tools.
- Follow all department sanitation and food safety procedures.

Compliance & Company Standards
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and operational guidelines outlined in the Lynn’s Inc. & Affiliates Primary Policy Manual.
- Comply with applicable food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations.
- Follow company safety and security policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of company operational information.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by department or store leadership.
Qualifications
- Experience in meat cutting or meat department operations preferred.
- Knowledge of meat handling, cutting techniques, and product preparation preferred.
- Ability to maintain sanitation and food safety standards.
- Strong attention to detail and product quality.
- Ability to provide friendly and knowledgeable customer service.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
