Job Description
Overview
The Control Panel Test Engineer at Quality Electrical Systems (QES) is responsible for testing, inspection, and validation of bespoke electrical control systems designed to meet client specifications. This role ensures that all systems meet quality, safety, and performance standards prior to deployment. The position involves hands-on testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration with engineering, production, and panel teams to resolve issues and support successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform function testing, fault finding, load testing, load control testing, waveform testing, harmonics testing, and current injection testing (including generator and load bank setup) for custom control systems
• Conduct software programming related to control systems
• Process and document inspection and test data
• Work on LV circuitry, PLC communications, testing, and protection relays
• Carry out punch list inspections and assist with rectification work as required
• Mark up drawings and test reports, ensuring adherence to controlled procedures
• Maintain test equipment and load test facilities
• Liaise with the Panel Supervisor regarding testing activities and issues
• Assist in resolving build issues during production
• Work in accordance with Quality and Health & Safety Management systems, meeting ISO 9001 requirements

Knowledge and Experience Requirements
• Previous experience in testing and inspection of electrical control panels within oil & gas or petrochemical environments
• Proven electrical fault-finding experience
• Thorough understanding and use of standard electrical testing equipment
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Familiarity with LV systems, PLC communications, and protection relays
• Experience working within structured quality and safety frameworks such as ISO 9001

• Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to sit
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

• Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
• Ability to travel to customer sites to assist with startups, training, and service activities
