Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer in Canada.
This role places you at the center of quality engineering within a fast-growing fintech environment, where you will define how testing and release confidence are built from the ground up. Acting as the senior QA authority, you will shape automation strategy across API, integration, and end-to-end testing, ensuring financial systems are reliable, secure, and scalable. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and DevOps teams to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle. This is a highly hands-on position combining automation engineering, release risk strategy, and exploratory testing. You will also play a key role in introducing AI-assisted testing approaches to improve efficiency and coverage. The environment is dynamic and startup-like, requiring strong ownership, adaptability, and the ability to build scalable quality practices from first principles.
In this role, you will own the end-to-end quality engineering strategy and ensure robust test coverage across critical financial systems:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks covering API, integration, and end-to-end testing
- Develop and maintain Playwright-based test suites for key user-facing workflows in collaboration with product teams
- Define and execute release quality strategies, including risk-based testing, regression planning, and go/no-go decision support
- Partner with product managers during design reviews to identify risks, edge cases, and testability gaps early
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with DevOps teams
- Build and maintain integration tests across third-party financial and payment systems to ensure contract reliability
- Lead exploratory and chaos testing efforts for high-risk financial workflows such as settlement, authorization, and reconciliation
- Conduct root cause analysis of production issues and convert learnings into long-term test coverage improvements
- Define and track meaningful quality metrics focused on real risk and system reliability
- Mentor engineers on testable design principles and promote a shift-left quality mindset
To succeed in this role, you should bring strong technical depth in automation engineering and a risk-aware mindset for high-impact systems:
- 5+ years of QA engineering experience, including building or significantly extending automation frameworks
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright or similar E2E testing tools (Cypress, etc.)
- Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, or Go, with ability to write production-grade test code
- Strong experience testing REST APIs, microservices, and integration workflows
- Experience embedding automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and working with DevOps practices
- Solid understanding of SQL and ability to validate data integrity across systems
- Experience working closely with product managers and engineers in Agile environments
- Strong analytical skills with ability to assess risk in complex, high-consequence systems
- Familiarity with AI-assisted QA tools and modern test automation workflows
- Excellent communication skills, especially for documentation, reporting, and stakeholder alignment
- Experience in fintech, payments, or regulated environments is highly preferred
- Competitive salary aligned with experience
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
- Fully remote work environment with flexibility
- Paid time off and supportive work-life balance policies
- Professional development opportunities and technical mentorship
- Exposure to modern fintech systems and high-impact engineering challenges
- Opportunity to influence QA strategy and shape engineering quality practices
- Inclusive and collaborative remote-first culture
- Career growth potential into leadership roles
