Description:

Job Summary

The Landscape Design and Sales Associate is responsible for the design, estimation and sales of large commercial and residential projects for the installation-enhancement division of the company. The primary focus of the Landscape Designer is designing, estimating, supervising and closing out projects. The position may require supervision of hardscape elements and sub-contractors as well. The Landscape Designer also ensures designs and estimates are produced on schedule and to budget.

This position reports directly to the Branch Manager and works closely with enhancement and other branch management teams.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Sales-focused on landscaping, hardscaping, fencing, decks, drainage mitigation, low voltage lighting, plant layout and design, maintenance estimating
  • Maintaining current clients and expanding to new leads
  • Accurately bid projects, plan projects, execute projects
  • Create and document a targeted sales plan based on past work and future opportunities
  • Complete landscape material takeoffs and procure vendor quotes for materials required at jobsites
  • Produce estimates accurately and in a timely manner
  • Provide value-engineering options to reduce costs without sacrificing quality
  • Stay abreast of new products, product supply, and pricing
  • Support and participate in the development, implementation, and refinement of department processes and innovations
  • Attend and present at project launch meetings
  • Prepare bid information and pertinent project info for awarded bids
  • Submittals-shop drawings, schedule, purchase orders, and labor budgets
  • Review ongoing jobs and identify potential problems in real time
  • Offer up ideas to increase efficiency and profitability
  • Supervise project close out meetings and project turnover to maintenance teams.
  • Provide project schedule timelines for projects
  • Review profit analysis
  • Create and follow through with purchase orders, job estimates, profit analysis, and invoices
  • Organize electronic and physical files
  • Adhere to company’s safety policy and ensure that the public and co-workers will be safe while performing job duties
Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and co-workers
  • Great Communication skills to coordinate with landscape crews and sub-contractors installation / project design intent
  • Good understanding of local regulatory and ARB requirements for permitting projects.
  • Landscape drawing and specification review
  • Hardscape drawing and specification review
  • Landscape-related design and horticulture skills

Education and Experience

  • 2+ years’ experience in landscape estimating, design, sales, or another related field
  • Experience designing Irrigation systems is a major plus
  • College degree in related field is a plus but not required
  • Credentialed landscape professional is a major plus, but not required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions
  • Frequently required to drive for short to long distances within assigned territory
  • Must be able to see at close vision, distant vision, peripherally, have depth perception and can adjust focus
  • Frequent use of hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Frequently required to reach, bend, twist, stoop, crouch, climb and balance
  • Occasionally works with mechanical objects and outside in all weather conditions
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Occasionally exposed to loud noise levels
