Description & Requirements

Elder Research Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of MANTECH international Corporation seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Data Architect will provide leadership in the establishment of robust data management for the Client's technical infrastructure. The role helps to ensure our data infrastructure is scalable and aligned with organizational goals for analytics, integration, and governance. The architect focuses on creating a unified framework for metadata, master data, and reference data, enabling consistent, high-quality information across systems. By implementing modern architectural practices, the data architect supports advanced analytics and seamless interoperability between platforms.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Metadata Management: Develop and maintain a centralized metadata repository cataloging all data assets, including lineage, definitions, and quality metrics; integrate metadata into analytics platforms to improve discoverability, trust, and governance; and establish standards for technical, operational, and business metadata to ensure clarity and compliance for the client.
  • Master and Reference Data Management: Define and manage authoritative sources for key entities (e.g., product categories, manufacturers, incident types); ensure consistent use of reference data across systems, reports, and analytical workflows; and implement processes to maintain data integrity and resolve cross-domain discrepancies.
  • Data Architecture Design: Design and implement a flexible, modern (e.g., medallion/layered) data architecture to support scalable analytics and system integration; migrate legacy business processes to cloud-native or open-source platforms for improved flexibility and cost-efficiency; and produce comprehensive documentation, including architecture diagrams, component descriptions, data lineage diagrams, and technology stack details.
  • Integration and Interoperability: Develop and execute strategies for integrating data across disparate systems to ensure seamless data flow and interoperability, collaborating with data engineers, analysts, and governance teams to align architecture with the client’s organizational objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Data Expertise: 5+ years designing and implementing data models, data warehouses, and data integration solutions, including extensive experience in data modeling, schema design, ETL processes, data pipelines, and integration frameworks supporting the client.
  • Technical Skills: 3+ years working in modern Azure cloud data environments (certifications advantageous), along with 3+ years of experience in SQL and Python; familiarity with data transformation frameworks and API integration.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills for data storytelling; demonstrated ability to optimize data architectures for performance, scalability, and security; and experience documenting architectures and presenting technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences within the client’s environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent professional experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics, related field.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Azure Data Engineer or Solutions Architect, or equivalent.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Current Public Trust Desired.
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance prior to starting this position
