About the Role:
The Director-Laboratory is a leadership role responsible for overseeing policies, procedures, and operations of a moderate-complexity laboratory. This position ensures CLIA compliance, maintains certification standards, and promotes a safe and accurate laboratory environment. The role also requires supporting departmental goals and demonstrating strong leadership skills, including influence, innovation, adaptability, and problem-solving.

About the Role:
The Director-Laboratory is a leadership role responsible for overseeing policies, procedures, and operations of a moderate-complexity laboratory. The role also requires supporting departmental goals and demonstrating strong leadership skills, including influence, innovation, adaptability, and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily laboratory operations, staffing, and budgeting
- Ensure compliance with CLIA and all applicable regulations
- Maintain SOPs, quality control, and proficiency testing programs
- Supervise, train, and evaluate laboratory staff
- Resolve technical issues and implement corrective actions
- Ensure laboratory safety and regulatory compliance
- Oversee accurate and timely reporting of test results
- Promote a culture of accountability and excellence
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technology (MT), Chemical, Physical or Biological Science required.
- Current licensure as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technology (MT) required.
- Five (5) years of laboratory training and/or experience required.
- Five (5) years of supervisory experience in a laboratory setting required.
- Must maintain current professional licensure in Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain licensure within ninety (90) days of date of hire.
- Must possess certification of “Mandatory Reporter Training” or obtain certification during the first week of employment.
- Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
- Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
- Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
- Experience operating and maintaining laboratory equipment (microscopes, cell counters)
- Strong math and analytical skills to interpret test data
- Ability to perform proficiency testing independently
- Knowledge of HIPAA, Privacy Act, and regulatory compliance
- Proficient with computers, EHR systems, and Microsoft Office
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to lead teams and manage performance
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and commitment to quality
- Physically able to perform essential laboratory duties
