Material Assistant Manager at Hyundai Transys Georgia Seating System, LLC – Champaign, Illinois
About This Position
Summary of Position:
A responsible Assistant Manager’s work will be critical in ensuring the team meets its goals of efficiency and customer satisfaction. Meet with our customer on a daily basis to ensure that our seats are to their satisfaction and high quality. Our ideal candidate will be a leader with a strong technical mindset. You should also be apt in organizing and solving problems. Interpersonal and mediation skills will be very useful, since you’ll often be acting as a point of contact between company, employees and customers. The goal is to secure the effective operation of our business and the satisfaction of our customer.
Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- To manager the organizing, planning and implementing strategy
- Review documents, such as production schedules, staffing tables, and specifications to obtain information, such as materials and priorities.
- Coordinate with the customer for all incoming issues and defects daily.
- Manage the warehouse inventory daily of materials and goods to meet production demands
- Ensure schedules and objectives are met, arrange for delivery and distributes supplies and parts to expedite flow of materials to meet production demands.
- Complete status reports, such as production progress, customer information, and materials inventory
- Design and implement plant warehousing strategies for production materials or finished products
- Select transportation route to maximize economy by combining shipments and consolidating warehouse and distribution.
- Supervise and motivate staff
- Create reports, analyze and interpret data
- Drive continuous improvement processes, training
- Develop team members
- Secure adherence to company’s policies and guidelines
- Ensure the quality of the seats are to our customer satisfaction.
- Ensure there is adequate amount of replacement parts and seats in warehouse at all times.
- Cycle count parts, make inventory adjustments.
- FIFO parts and seats for quality and ensure that all EO changes are up to date.
- Coordinate yard sorts with the customer and schedule all repairs.
- Ensure that all defects are contained at Transys and at the customer.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Automotive and/or Supply Chain/Warehouse Management.
- Experience with strategic sourcing
- Extensive knowledge in Supply Chain and Materials Management
- Knowledge in daily operational and high level production environment of sourcing, including significant interaction with Accounting, Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality- involving strategic and tactical sourcing which includes new product development
- Diverse experience in driving total cost improvements and enhancements to organizational efficiency through a coordinated team methodology
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; preferably in Logistics/Supply Chain Management or Business Management
Technical/ Computer Skills:
- Leadership and organizational abilities
- Analytical mind with good math skills
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Blueprint reading
- Knowledge of all seats and must be able to break down and rebuild for quality investigations.
- SAP experience is a strong asset!
- Knowledge of ASN, EDI, Material Handling, inventory and logistics
- Shipping and Receiving experience preferred
- Able to work with clients, vendors and contractors
- Complete understanding of the MS Office Suite
- Able to track inventory, finished goods

The employee generally works in warehouse and indoor office environments but occasionally works out of doors, in all types of weather and on uneven terrain. Overtime may be required.
