Principal R&D/Product DVL Engineer

This role sits at the forefront of next-generation high-speed data communications, shaping system-level architectures that power compute, AI, storage, and networking ecosystems. You will act as a senior technical leader interfacing directly with hyperscalers, OEMs, and industry architects to understand emerging challenges and translate them into scalable product and technology strategies. The position plays a critical role in defining interconnect solutions that support evolving standards and performance demands in data-driven infrastructure. You will bridge customer needs with internal R&D roadmaps, ensuring alignment across innovation, product development, and business strategy. The environment is highly collaborative, fast-evolving, and deeply embedded in global industry standards and ecosystems. This is a high-impact role where your technical vision directly influences future data center and AI infrastructure design.

Accountabilities

You will lead system-level architecture definition and technical engagement with key customers and industry stakeholders, ensuring alignment between emerging market needs and next-generation product development. You will also drive strategic R&D direction and represent the organization in global standards and innovation forums.

  • Serve as primary technical liaison for hyperscalers, OEMs, and system architects
  • Define system-level architecture requirements for compute, AI, storage, and networking platforms
  • Translate customer challenges into product roadmaps and R&D initiatives
  • Drive technical strategy across high-speed electrical, optical, and hybrid interconnect solutions
  • Participate in and influence global industry standards (PCI-SIG, IEEE, OCP, CXL, Ethernet Alliance)
  • Lead technical evaluations for partnerships, ecosystem collaborations, and innovation opportunities
  • Develop thought leadership content including whitepapers, presentations, and reference designs
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product management, sales, and marketing teams
  • Guide go-to-market strategy for new technologies and interconnect solutions
  • Support execution of high-impact technical programs aligned with customer and business goals
Requirements

This role requires deep expertise in system architecture, high-speed interconnect technologies, and data center infrastructure, combined with strong customer-facing and strategic leadership capabilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; MBA or business background is a plus
  • 12+ years of relevant engineering experience in high-tech or data infrastructure environments
  • 5+ years of experience in system-level design within compute, networking, storage, or datacenter industries
  • Strong knowledge of high-speed signaling, hardware systems, and interconnect technologies
  • Expertise in compute, AI/ML, networking, or storage architectures
  • Experience with engineering tools such as simulation, modeling, CAD, or signal integrity analysis
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Proven experience engaging with external customers and industry leaders
  • Self-driven with ability to operate independently in a globally distributed environment
  • Willingness to travel 25–30%
