Job Overview

Sterling Constructors is seeking a highly driven and detail-oriented General Contractor Bid Manager / Estimator to lead the full lifecycle of commercial and government construction bids. This role is critical to company growth and profitability, responsible for developing accurate, competitive, and strategically aligned proposals.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands both the technical and strategic sides of estimating, and is confident managing multiple pursuits simultaneously. This position offers a clear path toward senior preconstruction leadership and operational management.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
  • Lead the full bid lifecycle from opportunity review through final proposal submission

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and general conditions

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify scope gaps, risks, and value opportunities

  • Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals

  • Develop competitive pricing strategies aligned with market conditions and company goals

  • Collaborate with Project Managers and leadership to align estimates with execution strategies

  • Prepare formal bid packages, schedules, and supporting documentation for commercial and government clients

  • Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and bid tracking systems

  • Build and maintain strong subcontractor and supplier relationships

  • Support preconstruction planning, budgeting, and value engineering efforts

  • Participate in post-bid reviews and project turnover meetings

  • Provide estimating support during project delivery as needed

  • Represent Sterling Constructors professionally with clients, vendors, and partners

Qualifications
  • Seasoned experience in construction estimating and bid management for a general contractor.

  • Strong knowledge of commercial and government construction practices.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract requirements accurately.

  • Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and project management tools.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and accountability.

  • Experience with public sector bidding processes and compliance requirements preferred.

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred or equivalent experience.
