Senior Surety Legal Counsel - REMOTE
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Remote Associate Legal Counsel. In this role, you will provide vital legal support and advice related to surety claims, ensuring that the company effectively manages risk and maintains compliance. You will have the opportunity to develop strong relationships across teams while working independently to handle various legal matters. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the company's operations and support their objectives in a fast-paced environment. This role requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to optimize legal outcomes.
Accountabilities- Handle surety claims matters independently, including identifying recovery opportunities.
- Build strong working relationships with Surety Underwriting and Operations teams globally.
- Provide accurate legal counsel on surety underwriting and business matters.
- Assist in preparing and presenting claims reports within the organization.
- Coordinate and conduct educational sessions for internal staff on surety issues.
- Collaborate with outside counsel on claims and underwriting matters.
- Obtain and maintain necessary state adjusters licenses.
- Participate actively in surety industry groups and local events.
- Bachelors Degree and Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited institution.
- Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; Canadian province admission is a plus.
- 5-7 years of legal experience in the surety industry, ideally in-house.
- Proven track record of managing mid-level surety claims and providing underwriting support.
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with cross-border underwriting and indemnity matters is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to learn and integrate AI technologies into business processes.
