Position Type: The position is seasonal and employees are hired for a specific timeframe not to exceed six (6) months. They may work up to forty (40) hours per week throughout the designated season but are not to exceed 1000 hours during that period or 1508 hours in a year

Job Summary
The Coordinator, Camp Program position is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising the day-to-day operations of camp.
Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older with a valid US driver’s license.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience in recreation programming, planning, and supervision.
- Have or obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within four (4) weeks of hire.
The successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check and subsequent mandatory background checks in accordance with current District policy requirements.
Preferred but not required:
- Knowledge of sports and activities associated with the Fieldhouse.
- Proficiency in the Spanish language.
Essential Functions

- Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating camp programs as assigned.
- Ensure staff development, schedules, and orientation of assigned programs.
- Monitor and inventory program equipment, ensuring everything is in working order.
- Hire, train, supervise, schedule, evaluate, and terminate all assigned program staff according to District policy.
- Supervise camp activities on site.
- Understand emergency management procedures and convey the information to staff.
- Respond to safety issues in a prompt manner and maintain control of participants and staff.
- Communicate with staff, campers, and parents in a clear and respectful manner.
- Maintain camp facility presentation, cleanliness, and organization, including all outside organization facilities.
- Maintain and review records and evaluations of all programs, operations, staff, and facilities.
- Review and recommend purchases with the supervisor.
- Conduct daily check-in and check-out of campers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of:
- Principles of supervision and planning.
- Developing recreational day camp programs for elementary and secondary school-age children.
- Computers and Microsoft Office applications.
Skill and Ability to:
- Lead seasonal staff in summer camp operations.
- Understand sequential skill development, rules, play, and team development for sports/games.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Organize, delegate responsibilities, and establish program goals.
- Establish effective working relationships with staff and the public.
- Work with youth within related youth programming.
- Perform all duties with safety as a top priority.
Working Conditions and Aptitudes
- Duties are performed indoors and outdoors, including working in inclement weather, and extreme temperatures.
- Duties primarily performed in a public setting, requiring constant interaction with a variety of people.
- Work effectively with crowds, uncooperative participants during difficult situations, emergency response, and periods of continuous demand.
- Work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays depending on department needs.
- This position is ineligible for remote work. Essential duties cannot be completed without being physically present.
