What You’ll Be Doing

Safeguard & Secure
• Operate screening tools like metal detectors and X-ray machines
• Control access and validate IDs of all courthouse entrants

Support & Serve
• Help visitors navigate procedures and directions
• Ensure everyone feels safe and informed

Monitor & Respond
• Use CCTV systems and remain alert for suspicious activity
• Respond to alarms, emergencies, and security breaches swiftly

Enforce & Communicate
• Uphold courthouse policies with professionalism
• Prepare reports and communicate effectively with staff and law enforcement

Maintain & Train
• Conduct equipment checks and report issues
• Stay sharp with regular training and procedural updates

You’re a Great Fit If You Have:

Required Certifications:
• Valid BSIS Guard Card
• Active Exposed Firearm Permit
• Baton Permit or Energy Weapon Certification
• Chemical Agent Permits preferred

Experience:
• At least 1 year of verifiable security work
• Military or law enforcement background is a major plus

Qualifications:
• California ID
• Excellent observation and communication skills
• Reliable transportation and communication (cell/radio)
• Ability to pass drug, interview, and background screening

Initial Training (Before Applying)

☐ Power to Arrest (3–4 hours, can be online)
☐ Appropriate Use of Force (5 hours, must be in-person)
Application & Background Check

☐ Submit Live Scan fingerprint background check (DOJ & FBI)
☐ Pay BSIS application fee (~$50–$60)
First-Year Required Training (Post-Approval)
☐ Complete additional 32 hours of BSIS-mandated training:
☐ 16 hours within first 30 days:
☐ Public Relations (Community & Customer) – 4 hrs
☐ Observation & Documentation – 4 hrs
☐ Communication and Its Significance – 4 hrs
☐ Liability / Legal Aspects – 4 hrs
☐ 16 hours within 6 months:
