WELDER - AUSTIN at Texas Disposal Systems – Creedmoor, Texas

JOB SUMMARY

The Welder performs welding tasks repairing and maintaining containers. Work is performed on- and off-site in a safe manner. The Welder will also assist maintenance personnel when required.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
2. Assist with weld repairs and asset fabrication on and off site.
3. Assist with designing, fabricating and repairing metal.
4. Document repair and fabrication projects and track time in accordance with department procedures.
5. Request parts and supplies for assigned jobs.
6. Assist with field and shop maintenance weld repairs and fabrication.
7. Comply with company safety policies.
8. Attend monthly, mandatory safety meetings.
9. Report immediately any safety violations and correct unsafe acts or conditions.
10. Properly maintain equipment, including service trucks and trailers, safety equipment, and tools.
11. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Must pass a pulmonary function test if required by work assignment
• Passage of the company welding test Welding aptitude
• Must be able to obtain any welding certificates needed to perform certain tasks or projects;
• Familiarity with shop equipment i.e. drill press, cranes, grinders and saws;
• Must demonstrate an understanding of metal welding theory and practices.
• Must pass a pulmonary function and respirator fit tests

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• At least one year of maintenance welding experience including the use of arch, Mig, and stick welders, plasma cutter and acetylene equipment
• Aluminum welding experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Forklift experience

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

• Valid Class C driver’s license
• Safe driving for the last three years
• Forklift certification by company within 90 days of employment.
