Nursing- Paid Student Internship

The Intern Student Nurse works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide nursing care to patients. Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited RN program (associate or bachelor degree) and have participated in an academic clinical experience. Must be enrolled in a board of licensed clinical practice approved internship course.

Duties will include:
• Following instructions given by all nursing personnel and outlined in policies and procedures.
• Identifying medical problems and reporting the changes to the Registered Nurse.
• Communicating patient’s progress toward goals to the physician and interdisciplinary team in order to assist the team in planning the patient’s care.
• Observing changes in patient behavior in order to intervene appropriately and communicates changes to the Registered Nurse.
• Performing safety checks as ordered by the physician.
• Assisting with admissions, discharges and transfers of patients based on the direction of the Registered Nurse and completing the appropriate documentation as needed.
• Assisting in applying protective devices under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Assisting patients with activities of daily living, encouraging independent behavior with appropriate interventions on a daily basis.
• Assisting patients during mealtimes, observing intake/output when applicable, reporting to the Registered Nurse and following program guidelines regarding nutritional habits.
• Utilizes appropriate population-specific patient care protocols and policies related to the physical and psychological needs of all ages of patients
• Embodies the vision and values that are compatible with Cherry County Hospital and Clinic.
• The intern functions within the scope and standards of practice as outlined in the state specific regulations
