What You'll Do
  • Collaborate daily with the ComplexBets Editor to produce a high volume of editorial content: 1 feature article per day (5/week) and 2 news posts per day (10/week), all covering sports through a betting and predictive markets lens.

  • Write compelling, well-researched sports features that integrate odds analysis, betting trends, and predictive market context, translating complex wagering concepts into accessible, engaging editorial for a broad sports audience.

  • Produce fast-turnaround news posts covering breaking sports developments, line movements, notable odds shifts, and game-day storylines with sharp, SEO-conscious headlines and concise copy.

  • Maintain a consistent editorial voice across all ComplexBets content — credible, culturally fluent, and attuned to both the sports fan and the betting community.

  • Monitor the sports news cycle in real time, identifying and pitching story angles at the intersection of sports culture, betting markets, and trending narratives.

  • Work closely with the ComplexBets Editor to develop story ideas, refine angles, and ensure all published content meets editorial standards for accuracy, tone, and originality.

  • Cover tentpole sports moments (NFL Sundays, NBA Playoffs, March Madness, major boxing/MMA events, World Cup, etc.) with timely, well-contextualized editorial output.

  • Conduct interviews, gather quotes, and incorporate expert sourcing as appropriate for features and analysis pieces.

  • Coordinate with the social, video, and partnerships teams across Complex Networks to identify editorial opportunities that support broader ComplexBets initiatives.

  • Utilize AI tools to support research, ideation, and workflow efficiency while maintaining the editorial quality and voice standards set by the ComplexBets team.

  • Track and analyze content performance data to inform future story angles, formats, and coverage priorities in collaboration with the Editor.

  • Stay current on competitors in sports media and betting content to ensure ComplexBets maintains a differentiated editorial voice and timely coverage.

Who You Are
  • 2–3 years of editorial writing experience at a publisher, sports media brand, betting platform, or culturally relevant media company.

  • Deep knowledge of sports betting, predictive markets, odds culture, and how they intersect with sports, pop culture, and internet discourse.

  • Strong working knowledge of major U.S. and global sports (NFL, NBA, MLB, soccer, college sports, combat sports, etc.) and the betting markets surrounding them.

  • Proven ability to write quickly and accurately under deadline in a high-volume editorial environment.

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to translate betting language and market data into clear, compelling editorial copy.

  • Strong news judgment — able to identify the most relevant angles on a fast-moving story and frame them for a sports and betting audience.

  • Positive, proactive, and collaborative team player with strong communication skills and the ability to take direction while contributing original ideas.

  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays during major sporting events as editorial coverage demands.

  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and content performance metrics as they apply to sports editorial.

  • Experience with CMS platforms and a comfort level working in a digital-first, data-aware editorial environment.

  • Self-starter mentality with strong time management and the ability to manage a consistent high-volume output independently.
