Job Summary:
As a Heavy Duty Mechanic at Park Landscaping, you will play a critical role in keeping our fleet of loaders, skid steers, plow trucks, tandem trucks, and other equipment operating safely and efficiently to support year-round landscaping and snow removal services. In this hands-on position, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy-duty vehicles and machinery, performing both preventive maintenance and urgent repairs to minimize downtime and support smooth field operations.
Roles and Responsibilities:Perform regular maintenance and repairs on a variety of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment (loaders, skid steers, tandem trucks, plow trucks, etc.).
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and perform necessary repairs.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and other critical components.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and parts used.
Work closely with the operations team to prioritize work orders and ensure quick turnaround for repairs.
Ensure all work meets safety standards and regulatory requirements, following company policies and procedures.
Assist with emergency breakdowns in the field as needed, which may include after-hours or weekend call-outs during peak seasons.
Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certification (preferred) or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience in heavy equipment and vehicle repair, particularly in landscaping, construction, municipal, or similar industries.
Experience working with loaders, skid steers, tandem trucks, and plow trucks.
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Proficient with a variety of hand tools, shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair procedures.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
Strong commitment to safety, quality of work, and cleanliness of the shop and work areas.
Valid driver’s license (Class 5 or higher; Class 1/3 an asset).
Work Environment:
Primarily shop-based with regular work in an outdoor yard and on job sites, with exposure to varying weather conditions (including cold, wind, rain, and snow).
