Position Title: ABC Electrical Apprentice
Overview
Are you interested learning a skilled craft and looking to take the next step in your career? Come join VectorUSAs growing technician team as an apprentice. Apprenticeship is career education combining extensive on-the-job training and related classroom instruction. Apprenticeship usually lasts four years. During this time, the apprentice works under the supervision and guidance of a skilled craftsperson. Apprentices are full time employees and earn a wage while in training. An apprentices pay generally starts at about 50 percent of the experienced craftsperson and increases throughout the apprenticeship. To be successful you will be self-disciplined, work well on individual tasks in a team environment, and be able to work well and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical personnel in high-stress situations.
Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Read blueprints or technical diagrams
- Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems
- Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers
- Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices
- Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools and power tools
- Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electric Code
- Through the apprenticeship program you will be required to attend classes either in-person or online 2 nights per week
- Other duties as assigned
What You Bring To The Table:
Required Qualifications
To qualify for sponsorship and program eligibility, candidates must:
- Be at least 17 years of age (legal guardian signature required if under 18)
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED
- Provide sealed official transcripts showing:
- One year of high school algebra or
- One semester of college algebra with a passing grade
- Social Security Card
- Possess a valid Drivers License
- Provide a K4 DMV driving record
- Be eligible to work in the United States
Final acceptance into the apprenticeship program is subject to:
- Successful completion of the TABE aptitude test (70% minimum)
- Successful completion of oral interview (80% minimum)
- Completion of ABC SoCal orientation
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs
- Climb ladders and work at heights
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
- Apprentices begin at a percentage of Journeyman wage (per program guidelines)
- Progressive wage increases throughout the apprenticeship
- Full-time employment status
