About This Position

Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery of New Mexico, part of Animal Outpatient Specialty Network, is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant with shared Client Service responsibilities to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a veterinary hospital and a strong commitment to client service and patient care.
We are a multi-doctor, AAHA-accredited referral specialty practice dedicated to treating dogs and cats in Albuquerque. Our hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Because of our unique specialty, we frequently volunteer our services to zoos and sanctuaries throughout New Mexico and beyond.

Requirements:In this role, you will partner with our lead Client Service Representative (CSR) to greet and welcome clients, manage appointments, and triage referrals. You will prepare clients for exam room consultations, assist doctors during examinations, review treatment plans with clients, process invoices, and collect payments.
On the clinical side, you will work alongside our technicians in the treatment area restraining patients for IV catheter placement and venipunctures, assisting doctors during surgery as needed, and preparing discharge instructions for clients. Essential daily responsibilities also include maintaining a clean and organized hospital environment, including surgical equipment and instruments, kennels, treatment areas, lobby, laundry, and restrooms. These efforts are vital to keeping our hospital running smoothly.
Education and Physical Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must have experience working in the public (ie: restaurant, retail or service business)
- Experience in a veterinary hospital or doctor’s office is a plus
- Dependable attendance is required
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds
- The ability to walk, bend, squat, stand or reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day
