Inspection Department Supervisor

Reich Tool & Design, a Menomonee Falls based, family-owned and operated
Tool and Die manufacturer for almost 60 years is looking for an Inspection Department Supervisor. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on candidate with skills in finished/in-process part inspection and Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming and operating. The qualified candidate would report directly to the VP/General Manager and be responsible for the supervision and training of Quality Technicians, Metrology Apprentices and Quality Inspectors as well as the day-to-day operation of the department.

This is an 8-hour, in-person, first shift position Monday - Friday with possible overtime based on Company needs. We offer a clean, climate-controlled environment with friendly people and a great culture.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Set priorities and schedule workflow through the department and team members aligned with operational priorities.
  • Monitor and communicate inspection status, priorities, and constraints to operations on a regular basis
  • Lead, coach, and develop inspection team members to build their technical capability, accountability, and flexibility
  • Establish clear expectations and ensure consistent performance management across the team
  • Drive cross-training initiatives to create a versatile and adaptable workforce
  • Foster a culture of ownership, urgency, collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Identify capacity gaps and recommend solutions including staffing, training, or overtime
  • Oversee the organization, cleanliness, and effectiveness of the inspection lab environment
  • Program and operate CMMs, laser scanning arm, vision system and other inspection equipment and support complex inspection activities as needed
  • Develop inspection plans from design drawings to meet company and customer requirements
  • Establish, monitor, and drive performance against inspection department KPIs to ensure company and departmental goals are met
  • Analyze and interpret blueprints to include noted specifications and GD&T requirements.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with customer quality representatives to address concerns and ensure alignment on requirements
  • Determine gauge and fixture requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of first piece, in-process, and final inspections, ensuring conformance to specifications.
  • Test finished products for paint and plating, quality and thickness, dimensions, profile, and appearance.
  • Lead investigation of non-conformances identified during inspection and coordinate resolution with operations
  • Complete all required records and paperwork to include inspection reports, certification packages, damage reports, return reports, and re-work orders.
  • Analyze inspection data, identify problem areas, and assist in resolving manufacturing processes or methods that affect quality.
  • Provide technical support to estimators, project managers, and shop floor personnel
  • Perform process capability studies & recommend changes to improve quality.
  • Ensure inspection activities align with ISO 9001 & 13485 and company quality standards
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to address and resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement including inspection efficiency, leadtime reduction, and waste elimination
  • Coordinate and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of inspection procedures, plans, and controls
  • Able to work overtime when needed to meet the needs of customer timelines.
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Recognize, report, and correct errors.
  • Support the company's quality policy, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, 5S practices, LEAN and world class manufacturing initiatives.
  • Commit to the corporate goals, mission, and vision.
  • Regular physical attendance is required.
  • Travel, as required.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications Necessary:
  • High school education or GED.
  • 7+ years related quality and inspection experience
  • 4+ years CMM programming experience
  • Proficient in Blueprint reading including GD&T.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Progressive knowledge of inspection industry software.
  • Intermediate use of Microsoft software.
  • Experience selecting and using gages, fixtures, and metrology tools
  • Prior manufacturing experience.
  • Strong understanding of inspection methods, first article inspection, and in-process/final inspection requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen

Preferred Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Experience with Zeiss CMM, FARO Arm and/or Micro Vu
  • Prior experience working with defense, aerospace, medical, and other regulated industries.
  • Prior CNC machining background or operation
  • Familiarity with ERP systems
  • Toolmaker experience.
  • Experience working in a job shop manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement

Pay: $35.00 + per hour based on experience
