About This Position
White River Health is seeking an experienced physician leader to serve as Inpatient Chief Medical Officer (CMO). This senior leadership role provides strategic and operational medical oversight for all inpatient clinical programs, ensuring excellence in quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and physician engagement.
The Inpatient CMO partners closely with the CEO, executive leadership, the Outpatient CMO, Designated Institutional Official (DIO), Medical Directors, and their dyad administrative leaders to advance WRH’s clinical and organizational goals. This position is structured as a blended role, with approximately 0.25–0.5 FTE administrative leadership and 0.5–0.75 FTE clinical practice in the physician’s specialty.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Provide system-wide medical leadership for inpatient services.
- Lead and support the Medical Director dyad model to ensure accountability, collaboration, and performance.
- Drive initiatives focused on quality improvement, patient safety, clinical outcomes, and regulatory readiness.
- Partner with HR and administration in physician recruitment, onboarding, development, and evaluation.
- Support graduate medical education and academic collaborations.
- Serve as a liaison between medical staff and executive leadership while maintaining an active inpatient clinical practice.
Qualifications:
- M.D. or D.O. with active Arkansas license (or eligibility).
- Minimum of 8 years of clinical practice experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a hospital or health system setting.
- Expertise in quality improvement, peer review, and physician engagement.
- Board certified in specialty.
