About This Position

The Commercial Strategy & Portfolio Management Lead serves as a strategic advisor and operational partner to the Chief Commercial Officer, supporting the leadership, effectiveness, and execution of the Commercial organization. Reporting directly to the CCO, this role combines enterprise-level commercial strategy, investment and portfolio governance, and cross-functional execution to ensure alignment, focus, and disciplined delivery of commercial priorities.

This position plays a central role in shaping how commercial strategy is developed, resourced, and executed. You will lead the planning, prioritization, and optimization of commercial investments while ensuring that budgets, vendor partnerships, and operating processes support brand strategy, launch priorities, and long-term growth objectives. As a trusted advisor to senior commercial leadership, you will provide strategic insights, scenario planning, and risk assessments, translating executive direction into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.

Roles & Responsibilities

Strategic Advisory & Leadership Enablement

Partner closely with the CCO to provide strategic analyses, recommendations, and decision support on commercial prioritiesTranslate leadership objectives into clear plans, milestones, and accountability across the Commercial organizationPrepare executive-level materials for leadership meetings, operating reviews, and enterprise or Board updatesFacilitate Commercial leadership team meetings and cross-functional forums to drive alignment, decision-making, and executionMonitor progress against key initiatives, proactively identifying risks, gaps, and interdependencies and recommending mitigation strategies

Commercial Strategy, Planning & Portfolio Governance

Lead commercial investment planning, forecasting, and portfolio governance to ensure resources are aligned with strategic priorities and growth objectivesPartner with Commercial leaders to evaluate trade-offs, conduct scenario planning, and optimize resource allocation across brands and initiativesDrive transparency and accountability through performance reporting, insights, and metrics tied to commercial outcomes and ROISupport long-range planning, launch readiness, and future-state operating model evolution as the organization scales

Commercial Operations, Budget & Vendor Strategy

Own end-to-end Commercial budget oversight, tracking, and reporting in close collaboration with FinanceEstablish and manage a best-in-class agency and vendor management framework, including oversight of SOWs, POs, invoicing, contract routing, and spend governancePartner with Procurement, Legal, and Finance to ensure compliance, efficiency, and scalability of vendor operationsEnsure disciplined governance of commercial spend while enabling agility and speed of execution

Cross-Functional Leadership & Execution

Act as a central point of coordination across Commercial, Finance, Market Access, Medical, Legal, and ProcurementEnable effective execution by driving clarity on priorities, decisions, and ownership across stakeholdersIdentify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness, streamline processes, and maximize the impact of commercial investments

Supervision

This position has no internal supervisory responsibilities but may oversee external agency relationships. The position will also be responsible for the management, update and report generation from various Commercial Organization systems.

Education & Licenses and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Marketing, or related field. 10+ years of experience in commercial operations, finance, marketing operations, or vendor/budget management, biopharma or healthcare experience strongly preferred. MBA or other related advanced degree preferred.

Competencies & Skills

    Proven ability to manage complex budgets and financial planning processes with high accuracy and attention to detailExperience developing and managing SOWs, POs, vendor contracts, and agency relationshipsStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate financial information into actionable insightsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable influencing across teams and levelsAdvanced proficiency in Excel and financial tracking tools; familiarity with SAP/Oracle/Workday or similar systems a plusDemonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlinesTravel up to 30%.
