About This Position
Performs, monitors and evaluates EEG, Scans 24 hour EEG, and performs BAER, Ver, and NCV as ordered by the physician. Maintains work area and machines/equipment in clean and functional condition. Maintains EEG case log with accuracy. Assists EEG Tech I and trainee as required. Participates in lab call coverage. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge and sensitivity to cultural and religious beliefs of patients, visitors and staff. Communicates effectively and professionally with all providers, staff, and patients. Request for interpretation of test performed completed within defined time range. Ensures that the test interpretation by the providers are completed within the electronic medical record timely.
Qualifications: Education/Skills High school graduate or equivalent, courses in biological sciences helpful. Work Experience:Two years of EEG Tech Experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure:Certified by American Society of Electro Technologists (ASET) within two years of hire.
BLS within 6 months of hire.
Mental Demands: Has a good understanding of EEG interpretations, filter settings, and sensitivity controls and policies to insure quality patient care. Able to exercise good judgment, dependability, and initiative to function independently or with general supervision. Able to communicate effectively with critically ill or special demand patients and with the realization that errors may have serious consequences to the patient. Have a "sincere interest' in being a capable health team member.
