Director of Nursing HMH at Jackson County Memorial Hospital Authority – Hollis, Oklahoma
About This Position
Job Summary: Directs, administers and coordinates the activities of the critical access hospital in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by the VP of Patient Care and the Governing Body by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers. Directs and supports performance improvement and CQI activities.
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
· Manages department supervisors in multiple departments including, but not limited to: pharmacy drug rooms, emergency response and preparedness, swing bed program, Nursing Units, Emergency Department, Performance improvement and quality assurance, Infection Prevention, Employee Health, Employee Education
· Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
· Responsible for the overall directions, coordination, and evaluation of the subordinate units/departments.
· Maintains open lines of communication between JCMH and HMH staff and leadership.
· Provides advice and guidance as necessary to those in direct line of supervision.
· Serves as a liaison between the department staff and other JCMH/HMH administrators/managers in coordinating interdepartmental planning efforts and addressing major issues.
· Maintains an environment of collaboration and cooperation among departments and facilities.
· Acts as a resource in problem-solving and planning.
· Communicates actual and potential problems to the Hospital CEO and VP of Patient Care.
· Participates in the facility’s long-term and short-term financial planning.
· Ensures adequate staffing and communicates staffing needs and justifications to the hospital VP of Patient Care.
· Holds Patient Care Meetings at least monthly.
· Collaborates with staff to establish annual goals for Patient Care Services.
· Maintains communication with the medical staff; attends medical staff committee meetings including the Medical Executive Committee.
· Operates critical access to patient care services in such a way as to comply with State & Federal regulatory agencies.
· Minimizes risk to the hospital by complying with Loss Control recommendations.
· Minimizes risk to the hospital by monitoring and responding to incident/accident reports.
Requirements:Professional Requirements:
· Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
· Completes annual educational requirements.
· Maintains regulatory requirements.
· Reports to work on time as scheduled and wears identification while on duty.
· Attends committee and management meeting as appropriate.
Education/Regulatory Requirements & Experience:
· Must possess and maintain current Registered Nurse licensure to practice in Oklahoma. Prefer advanced degree in nursing or business administration.
· Five years of related management experience.
· Current BLS certification required; must be obtained during initial orientation if not current upon hire.
· Previous work history that demonstrates steady attendance and punctuality is required.
Language Skills:
· Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
· Additional languages preferred.
· Strong written and verbal skills.

· Basic computer knowledge
