Overview

Area Manager – Airport Terminal Floor Care Operations

Schedule: Thursday through Monday 8:30pm to 6am

Salary: $55,000.00/year

An Area Manager at Velociti Services is responsible for leading and overseeing all contracted floor care and custodial operations within an assigned airport terminal or group of facilities. This role ensures all services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full alignment with client expectations, regulatory requirements, and budgetary goals.

The Area Manager provides direct leadership to Machine Operators, Floor Technicians, and support staff, while driving operational excellence, quality assurance, and continuous improvement across all service areas.



Responsibilities

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop frontline teams including Floor Technicians and Machine Operators to ensure high performance, accountability, and adherence to standards
  • Oversee all floor care operations including machine scrubbing, burnishing, polishing, carpet care, and specialty services within a high-traffic airport environment
  • Ensure all services are performed in accordance with contract specifications, airport regulations, and safety compliance standards (including TSA and site-specific requirements as applicable)
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the client, airport stakeholders, and Velociti Services leadership
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits to ensure quality control, proper chemical usage, equipment operation, and adherence to scope of work
  • Manage labor, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure efficient operations within budgetary guidelines
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies, chemicals, and equipment; ensure all tools are operational and properly maintained
  • Promote and manage On-The-Job (OTJ) work opportunities, ensuring timely execution, documentation, invoicing, and payment follow-through
  • Identify operational gaps and implement process improvements to enhance service delivery, safety, and efficiency
  • Enforce safety protocols through regular observations, training, and incident prevention measures
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and training of new team members to maintain staffing levels and service continuity
  • Maintain accurate reporting, documentation, and communication with internal leadership and client stakeholders
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational success
  • Other duties as assigned or requested


Qualifications

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Strong floor care experience required, including operation of commercial floor machines (auto scrubbers, burnishers, extractors, etc.)
  • Proven knowledge of custodial and commercial cleaning practices, with a focus on large, high-traffic environments
  • Experience in the janitorial or facilities services industry preferred, with airport or transportation hub experience a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple sites or large-scale operations
  • Minimum of 3 years of customer service experience in a client-facing environment
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate, coach, and hold teams accountable
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of client and internal management
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems and technology for reporting, scheduling, and communication
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
  • Ability to prioritize, delegate, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all interactions
  • Strong time management and multitasking capabilities
  • Collaborative mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach

Physical Requirements:

Applicants for this role must be able to:

  • Lift boxes and packages weighing up to 60 pounds
  • Lift, bend, squat, and stretch to move boxes, parcels, and shipments
  • Climb small to medium flights of stairs multiple times a day
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Working conditions may consist of extreme exposure to heat/cold weather conditions, involving both indoor and outdoor tasks
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous environments and conditions might be experienced
