About This Position

Columbus Technical College seeks a qualified and dynamic individual to serve as the Program Director/Instructor for the Paramedicine Program. This full-time, exempt position serves as the first-line administrator for the program and is responsible for providing overall leadership, planning, implementation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of all program functions. The Program Director ensures that the Paramedicine Program meets or exceeds all standards and requirements set forth by: • The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) • The Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP) • The Georgia Department of Public Health – Office of EMS and Trauma. This role includes classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction; preparation of lesson plans; maintenance of accreditation documentation; coordination of advisory committee meetings; attending professional development events; and ensuring compliance with all institutional and regulatory requirements. This position is Full-time/exempt.

  1. May be required to teach high school students
  2. May require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County)
  3. May require travel

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for full-time and part-time faculty in curriculum development and instructional improvement
  • Oversee course, faculty, and student scheduling to ensure timely and accurate preparation
  • Manage program budgets, resources, and instructional technology
  • Conduct annual curriculum evaluations, institutional effectiveness assessments, and required program reports
  • Assist and support faculty in professional development efforts
  • Review program curriculum annually and recommend catalog updates or revisions
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate full-time and part-time faculty
  • Coordinate departmental textbook orders
  • Conduct and document regular faculty and staff meetings
  • Ensure faculty and student records are accurate and complete
  • Provide performance feedback, including formal classroom observations
  • Ensure all required surveys are conducted and reviewed in a timely manner
  • Teach in classroom, lab, and clinical settings
  • Develop and evaluate student learning outcomes and program outcomes
  • Follow state standards in developing program and course outlines, goals, and objectives
  • Evaluate student progress toward established learning outcomes
  • Meet with students, faculty, and other stakeholders to discuss instructional concerns and student progress
  • Maintain safety and security compliance across all training environments
  • Advise and register students as needed
  • Ensure compliance with CAAHEP, CoAEMSP, state, and institutional standards
  • Maintain accreditation documentation and prepare required reports
  • Oversee clinical site management and compliance
  • Assist with student recruitment, retention, and job placement
  • Serve on committees as assigned by the Academic Dean of Health Sciences & Nursing
  • Participate in student, college, and community events
  • Engage with the local professional community to promote the program and enhance partnerships
  • Assist with new student orientations
  • Adhere to all CTC policies and accreditor standards
  • Maintain knowledge of current EMS education standards, evidence-informed practice, and instructional methodology
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Current Georgia Paramedic license
  • Current Georgia Instructor/Coordinator (Paramedic) license
  • Current National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) as a Paramedic
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • Field experience in the delivery of prehospital emergency care
  • Knowledgeable about the current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards and evidenced-informed clinical practice
  • Knowledgeable about methods of instruction, testing, and evaluation of students
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Keen observation, supervision, and evaluation skills
  • Proficient with current computer technology applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have one or more years of experience teaching paramedic, advanced emergency medical technician, or emergency medical technician courses.
  • Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Emergency Management, Healthcare Management, or a closely related field.
  • Knowledgeable about national program accreditation, national registry, and state certification/licensure
  • Experience in BANNER and Blackboard

Salary/Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include state holidays, annual leave, sick leave, State of Georgia Retirement, Health and Flexible Benefits Program.
