About This Position

Golf Maintenance Lead Operator

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Lead, under the golf course superintendent and assistant golf course superintendent operates all heavy machinery, works with all golf course related equipment, oversees small crew work assignments, and inspects course conditions daily.

Standard Specifications:

Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

High school diploma or equivalent. Working knowledge of tools, machines, methods, and materials used in grounds construction, landscape maintenance and building maintenance and improvement.

Desirable:

Previous experience operating heavy machinery and golf course related equipment. Previous experience in concrete and hardscape.

SKILLS:

Essential:

Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in grounds construction, landscaped area maintenance work and building maintenance and improvement. Ability to operate heavy equipment and light motorized equipment. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Ability to oversee a crew of 4 or less during a project. Proven leadership capabilities. Eager to learn and want to be successful in this position. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to work outdoors for long periods of time, sometimes in inclement weather.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Oversees the completion of work assignments by crew members and assists with field decisions regarding job procedures, work standards and machinery use. Enforces safe working conditions with all job assignments and is responsible for instructing staff on proper equipment use and work methods. Oversees special projects and labor crews. Reports golf course conditions and all disciplinary problems to the golf course superintendent or assistant golf course superintendent. Maintains crew integrity at all times.

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

Maintains effective communication and cooperation with all other departments. Maintains positive interactions with club members and guests, providing a high level of customer service. Performs any and all duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendents, as deemed appropriate.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Most tasks are performed outdoors in variable weather conditions, including hot, cold, windy and wet weather. Temperature can be extreme but is usually moderate. Frequently works near moving/mechanical parts. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to reach with arms and hands; bend and stoop; remain at post standing for extended periods of time; required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
