About This Position
$80,000 - $120,000 yearly yearly
Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain files to ensure accuracy for other attorneys, paralegals, and staff
- Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings
- Conduct legal research, prepare for and attend hearings and/or other legal proceedings, and provide legal counsel with the help of senior associate attorneys
- Resolve cases efficiently by using communicating effectively with and working alongside senior attorneys and paralegals
- Review client issues on legal matters, analyze available options, and diligently work to determine the best course of action
The attorney hired for this role will work directly with clients and handle matters including:
- Meeting with clients to design estate plans
- Drafting wills, revocable trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives
- Drafting probate pleadings and filings
- Managing probate administrations from start to finish
- Communicating with personal representatives, beneficiaries, and the court
- Maintaining organized files and moving matters forward without constant supervision
As the practice grows, there may also be opportunities to assist with contested or litigated probate matters.
Initially, this position will be self-supported without a dedicated paralegal or legal assistant, so strong organization and independence are important.
Qualifications:
- Effective communication skills and problem-solving skills are necessary to work with all levels of staff and clients
- Successful completion of the bar exam
- Completion of a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school
- Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association)
- Willingness to learn from senior attorneys to meet our client needs and grow our client base
- 2–5 years of legal experience required
- Florida Bar license in good standing
- Prior experience with estate planning or probate matters
- Strong drafting and client communication skills
- Ability to manage files independently
