Description:
Job Summary: Quality Technician/Mailer is responsible for sending all samples, Certificates of Analysis/Compliance, and other documentation to customers per their requirements. This includes inspection of samples and documenting each customer’s requirements for each order.
Position Responsibilities:
This includes but is not limited to the following – all safety procedures such as PPE’s, ergonomics, chemical hazards, food safety guidelines, etc. and performs jobs in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employees and customers. Locating work orders, sales orders, ship lists and other pertinent information in Axapta and Shop Floor systems. May conduct specified tests on work in process and finished product. Testing includes visual inspection and physical testing of material using test equipment in the Quality Lab. Product testing may include dimensional, performance, and chemical characteristics. Recommends methods to streamline processes. Calibrating the Gas Chromatograph. Retrieval of product retains. Creating color boards with samples, as required by customer. Maintaining tracking logs for certain customers. Updating and maintaining work instruction book with all customer requirements concerning the mailing functions (samples, CoA’s, CoC’s) Understanding Quality Control books with procedures, Quality Alerts, and Control Plans for each process. Evaluates test data to determine compliance and compiles information for specific customer CoA’s. Performing cleaning functions for food safety and documenting activities on the Master Cleaning Schedule. Conducting Food Safety Audits, as needed. Perform calibration activities on specific lab equipment. Keeping work area clean. Other duties, as assigned. Responsible for compliance with all regulatory, facility food safety, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs) policies and procedures.

Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent/Associate Degree preferred.
Minimum experience of 2 years’ experience in related field.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Microsoft Excel and Word experience.
Must be able to see good, true color (must not be colorblind)
Basic math skills – Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Auditing skills
Organizational skills
Ability to read procedure manual and job specifications
Ability to speak and communicate effectively with production, management, and customers.
Essential Job Functions:
Must be able to visually detect nonconformances in product.
Must be able to distinguish subtle shades of colors accurately in order to verify product, match samples and colorimeter (Colorblind test is required).
Must have good organizational skills in order to develop unique systems to ensure that all customer requirements are met concerning mailing.
Must be familiar with internal auditing.
Make recommendations for improvements and corrective actions to management.
Reading, writing and general math skills are needed to understand production orders and art boards. Math skills should include reading measurements, the calibrations of a ruler needed to measure layout sheets, defining variation, defining acceptance criteria and run testing equipment.
Must have good mobility needed to interact between press area and quality control area.
Must be able to comprehend and follow detailed instructions without constant supervision.
Must be able to distinguish slight or fine differences in color, color hue, thicknesses, textures and images within words or letters in order approve quality of product.
Must have good communicational skills needed to characterize quality problems with all departments involved with the production of product and must have the ability to reason the source of the production problem.
Good writing skills are needed to communicate sample test results with various companies.
Must have good organizational skills to maintain good records.
Reflexes must be in excellent condition for quick response time on moving machinery. Employee must be able to react to rapidly moving parts in order to avoid serious injury to his/her or other employee’s limbs or other life threatening injuries. Employee must be completely alert at all times to operate machinery in a proper manner.
Basic computer skills are needed, including data retrieval and input and shop floor.
Must have ability to communicate effectively at all levels – production employees, administrative personnel, supervision and management.
Must possess basic knowledge of QA inspection, testing and sampling techniques.
