The Position:

The Software QA Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the delivery of highquality, reliable software that supports critical business and scientific outcomes. This role partners closely with software engineering, product management, and crossfunctional stakeholders to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle. You will contribute handson testing expertise while helping advance scalable, riskbased quality practices in a fastpaced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test strategies for complex software systems
  • Perform functional, regression, exploratory, and integration testing across web, backend, and platform components
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to review requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria with a qualityfirst mindset
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects through resolution, ensuring clear and actionable communication
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives to continuously improve quality outcomes
  • Support software releases by validating readiness and assessing risk
  • Apply riskbased thinking to testing activities and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Champion quality best practices and help evolve team standards, tools, and processes
  • Work effectively in a distributed environment while maintaining strong communication and accountability
Who You Are:

You are a thoughtful, detailoriented QA professional who cares deeply about software quality and user experience. You enjoy partnering with others, asking good questions, and improving how teams build and deliver software. Youre comfortable learning new systems and are motivated by making an impact, even when requirements or paths forward are evolving.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ yrs experience in software quality assurance, software testing, ideally LIMS and/or Salesforce
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycles and current QA methodologies
  • Handson experience designing and executing test cases and documenting test results
  • Experience using defect tracking and test management tools
  • Familiarity with agile development environments and crossfunctional collaboration
  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Exposure and understanding of regulated environments e.g. GxP, GLP, GCP, CLIA, CAP, and data integrity frameworks.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience contributing to test automation frameworks or automated test suites
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and continuous testing practices
  • Experience testing cloudbased, datadriven, or distributed systems
  • Exposure to regulated environments e.g. GxP, GLP, GCP, CLIA, CAP, and data integrity frameworks.
  • Ability to proactively identify gaps in quality processes and suggest improvements
  • Curiosity and willingness to grow technical depth over time, even if you dont meet every requirement today

For candidates based in our San Diego office, the salary (or hourly range is $97,000-$105,000.

For candidates based in our South San Francisco office, the salary or hourly range is $105,000-$117,000.

For candidates working remote (US), the salary or hourly range is $88,000-$97,500

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience, skillset, geographic location, industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
