Clinician Educator Open Rank of Neurology - Epileptologist

Position Summary:
The University of New Mexico School ofMedicine Neurology Department seeks an epileptologist to join ourneurology team in an open rank, clinician educator track position, who isdedicated to clinical care and building a robust clinical practice. You will be part of a team of faculty whoprovide high quality epilepsy care in inpatient and outpatient settings at UNMHospital (UNMH).

UNMH has the only NAEC level 4accredited Comprehensive Epilepsy Center in the state. We have the only epilepsy surgery program,epilepsy monitoring unit, neuromodulation program, and ICU video EEG monitoringprogram in New Mexico. Ourepileptologists work with a multidisciplinary team including a functionalneurosurgeon with expertise in epilepsy surgery and dbs, neuropsychologists,learners, and APPs.

Clinical responsibilities includeoutpatient epilepsy clinic, inpatient EMU coverage and reading of bothinpatient and outpatient adult EEGs.

Academic responsibilities includeparticipation in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows andresearch activities of the department.

The successful candidate is a dedicatededucator and clinician who has excellent communications skills and the abilityto work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.

  • MD degree or equivalent
  • Board certified/eligible in neurology
  • Completed adult neurology residencytraining prior to start date
  • Completed an epilepsy or neurophysiologyfellowship prior to start date
  • Eligible for medical license in thestate of New Mexico
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of clinical experience managingepilepsy patients
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivatean understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to thesuccess of the University's mission to serve local and global communities.
