Job Summary

Hartzell Engine Tech seeks an energetic and hands on Quality Assurance Manager to lead initiatives and people in the areas of improved product quality, on time deliveries, shorter lead times and lower costs. The manager will be responsible to create a quality assurance budget, allocate resources and determine schedule for project completion. In addition, the Quality Assurance Manager will help define the appropriate inspection procedures, sampling frequency and inspection techniques. The ideal candidate would be well served to have experience with an FAA based quality system.

Key Deliverables:

1) Provide proactive leadership necessary to drive, develop and monitor critical metrics

a. Deliver quality parts, on time, at target lead times, and lowest total cost to customers

b. Issue, spot, and drive solutions to items that impact these metrics

2) Coordinate and ensure timely completion of quality system audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements

3) Coordinate and ensure timely completion of internal corrective actions

4) Maintain quality system manuals and procedures

5) Coordinate and ensure timely completion of internal audits

6) Provide ownership for the export compliance program

7) Perform duties of the Chief Inspector

8) Perform routine communications with the FAA

Requirements:

Education/Experience

Bachelor of Science in Engineering with an emphasis on Quality preferred or ten years of equivalent experience required.

Technical Competencies

1) Excellent verbal and written communication skills

2) Demonstrated understanding of quality management system requirements (Preferred: AS9100, and FAA parts 21 & 145)

a. Ability to write manuals and requirements, technical procedures and document processes

b. Ability to interpret requirements and implement into the quality management system

3) Structured problem-solving skills to determine root cause

a. Ability to develop a plausible root cause and implement effective corrective action.

b. Familiarization with the principles of Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.

4) Knowledge of Manufacturing

a. Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and non-destructive testing methods, the application of each method and the requirements needed to certify processes and individuals

5) Organization skills

a. LEAN principles

b. Group facilitation

c. Project management

6) Gage management:

a. Gage calibration and inventory management experience.

b. Create and prove out gage calibration procedures traceable to NIST

c. Ability to manage out of tolerance gage conditions

7) Proficient Computer Skills (MS-Office, Excel and quality inspection management software)
