Job Summary:

The Certified ER Tech performs under the direct scope of practice as agreed upon by the Emergency Department Medical Director and within the scope of practice defined by the Mississippi State Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). The Certified ER Tech is under the direct supervision of the Emergency Department RN and the Emergency Department Medical Director and/or physician designee and accountable to the Patient Care Coordinator. Is responsible for facilitating age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive care, maintaining a safe environment, educating patients and their families, collecting information, communicating effectively, and utilizing technology. The Certified ER Tech participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of health care services and tasks. The role of the Certified ER Tech also includes patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement, and the oversight of unlicensed personnel.

Performance Expectations:

Qualifications:

Education/Skills

Successful completion of a nationally accredited paramedic program that meets all other state requirements and holds a valid National Registry Certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).

Work Experience:

3 years in EMS system with moderate to high volume strongly preferred. Equivalent work related experience in a hospital or in the military maybe considered.

Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
