Job Summary: The HR Generalist (Bilingual English/Spanish) applies a strong foundation of human resources experience to interpret and apply policies, support employees and managers, and promote a values-driven workplace. As a true generalist, this role coordinates HR and payroll projects, supports recruitment efforts, and manages employee records. When needed, the position may also assist with employee and labor relations matters. Serving as the first point of contact for employees and managers, via email, phone, and in person, the HR Generalist provides exceptional customer service at all times. The role requires broad knowledge of HR practices and company policies, along with strong judgment, and effective problem-solving skills. Drives and completes miscellaneous HR projects as assigned. Demonstrates good decision making and application of knowledge about the organization and HR best practices. Integrity, discretion, and professionalism are essential for handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.

Compensation: $ 33.65- $38.46/hour (Equivalent: $70,000-$80,000/year), DOE.

Location: This position is hybrid and located in either the Seattle or Portland Metro Area. This position is eligible for hybrid (remote and on-site work).

Supervision: This position reports directly to the Senior HR Business Partner.

Schedule Requirements: As a full-time hourly employee, the Human Resources Generalist typically works 5 days a week with flexibility to adjust schedule around special projects and may be required to work extra hours and/or days on an irregular basis due to unforeseen circumstances and emergencies. Occasional travel may be required.

Remote work: This position is eligible for hybrid (remote and on-site work). To best support the organization, this position works on site 2-3 days per week and may be required to be on-site more often for special projects or to cover absences. Flexibility including the ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends required to best support the organization.

Essential job responsibilities:

Provides outstanding customer service to employees and managers through email, phone, and in-person communication. Triages HR email account, responding to questions and directing internal and external customers to the appropriate stakeholders. Provides guidance and compliance support with minimal oversight. Working closely with hiring managers, supports recruitment through posting and managing job requisitions, maintaining question and interview banks. May conduct initial screening and phone interviews. Partners with leadership to refine hiring practices and improve candidate experience. Project coordinator for the Human Resources team. Coordinates with the team to develop project plans, timelines, and key deliverables. Tracks progress, shares updates, and creates reminders. Provides Employee Relations support by interpreting and applying company policies and procedures and recommending appropriate actions. As assigned, conducts, and supports investigations into employee conduct, performance, attendance, and other matters. As assigned, review, edit and track performance corrections. Supports Labor Relations by assisting Sr. HRBP and Head of People with preparation for bargaining, running reports, drafting documents, and coordinating strike responses. As assigned, review, edit and track performance corrections. This position supports leadership development initiatives by helping organize and facilitate leadership training opportunities in classroom and virtual settings. Maintains clean and accurate training records in the LMS and HCM, and updates and formats training materials within the LMS to ensure consistency and accessibility. Cross trained in other functions including workers compensation administration and leave of absence administration. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Ability to read, write, and speak English; English/Spanish bilingual, required 3 + years of Human Resources experience including interpreting and applying human resources policies and procedures, including advising management on best practices, preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Must be comfortable with public speaking, facilitating training sessions, and offering guidance and support from a position of influence rather than direct authority. Solid understanding of employment laws and regulations Familiarity with labor relations practices and collective bargaining environments (preferred) Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills Displays empathy while maintaining strong boundaries. Ability to prioritize tasks, attention to detail, and organizational skills Ability to maintain composure in stressful or ambiguous circumstances Must be at least 18 years old Due to this position being located in a food production facility, a valid Food Handler's Card is at all times Must demonstrate regular attendance by coming to work on scheduled working days and being on time
