POSITION TITLE: Paralegal

POSITION FUNCTION:
The Big 12 Conference seeks qualified applicants to join its team as a Paralegal. This position will report to the General Counsel and serve as the primary coordinator for the Conference's legal documentation and administrative processesincluding, but not limited to, contract management, contract administration, litigation support, intellectual property filings, and governance records. Interested individuals will have an expansive knowledge of legal research tools, document management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite, with a specific understanding of contract lifecycle management software.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Build and manage legal department processes, systems, and workflows to improve efficiency and support organizational growth.
• Own contract administration, including intake, tracking, drafting support, execution, filing, and status monitoring.
• Provide transactional support through drafting, proofreading, reviewing, editing, and organizing legal contracts and related correspondence.
• Administer legal technologies, including DocuSign and related contract management tools.
• Track legal matters, deadlines, and department metrics, and prepare reports or summaries as needed.
• Coordinate day-to-day legal administrative functions, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, organizing files, and supporting department logistics.
• Assist with legal research and special projects as assigned.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
• 2+ years of experience in a legal support role.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills, and use a proactive, detail-oriented approach in meeting deadlines.
• Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to be organized and adaptable, functioning well in a fast-paced and growing environment.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• Paralegal certification (preferred)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office environment. Frequent sitting, standing, walking bending, listening, speaking, and use of office equipment. Some requirements for lifting, pushing, or pulling items less than 30 pounds. Ability to work long non-standard hours, including holidays, nights, weekends, game days or other event dates.
