About This Position

Position Summary

Read and interpret customer blueprints, specifications and CATIA models to write manufacturing plans for detail parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies. Support NC Programming, Tool design and manufacturing to ensure an engineering compliant part is produced.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops fabrication or assembly manufacturing plans using the established manufacturing flow. Defines sequences of events, develops text and graphic work instructions, manufacturing datasets, tooling requirements, and manufacturing bill of materials.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, specifications and all other customer defining documentation of new and existing product. Must be able to effectively communicate the requirements in a standard format to production and quality.
  • Review Customer Engineering to ensure dataset packages are complete.
  • Review Customer Engineering revision levels to ensure proper part configuration is being produced.
  • Supports internal groups, customers, and vendors on a daily basis for all engineering/product definition related needs that arise. Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate with these groups.
  • Coordinates activities with technical team members to make corrections or improvements to planning, tooling, or processes.
  • Use analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills to identify the most efficient processes and alternative solutions to problems.
  • Use knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products.
  • Report to work on time, follow instructions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures.
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime as necessary.
  • Other various duties as needed or as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Technology Engineering OR equivalent Aerospace Manufacturing work experience. (Required)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints. (Will train the right candidate)
  • Basic understanding of machining/assembly disciplines and standard manufacturing processes.
  • Basic understanding of Configuration Control and PLM (Product Life Management – SmarTeam/3DX) concept.
  • Basic understanding of Order of Precedence concept.
  • Basic knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products.

Computer:

  • CATIA V5 – Basic working knowledge
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems (Syteline ERP system is Preferred).
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Applications (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point)

Communication:

  • Strong technical writing skills - Must effectively communicate customer requirements, in written form, in a clear and concise manor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Exhibits dependability: Follow instructions; responds to leadership direction; and accountability for own actions.
