This leadership role offers the opportunity to act as a trusted financial advisor within PE-backed portfolio companies, taking interim or project-based senior accounting positions. You will oversee accounting teams, manage financial close and reporting, and implement best-in-class processes and controls. This position blends technical expertise with strategic insight, allowing you to influence decision-making, optimize finance operations, and support value creation initiatives. The role is dynamic, involving multiple portfolio companies, cross-functional collaboration, and exposure to complex accounting, compliance, and reporting challenges. It is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional with strong leadership, consulting experience, and a passion for driving operational and financial excellence.
- Lead accounting teams during interim or project-based engagements, providing mentorship and ensuring high-quality deliverables
- Build strong relationships with portfolio company management, PE sponsors, and cross-functional teams to support strategic finance initiatives
- Manage the full monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, preparing GAAP-compliant financial statements and variance analysis
- Coordinate external audit and tax processes, serving as the primary liaison for auditors and tax advisors
- Ensure compliance with debt covenants, lender reporting, and PE sponsor requirements
- Identify and remediate control gaps, implement process improvements, and enhance accounting efficiency across portfolio companies
- Partner with FP&A to deliver financial results, KPI reporting, cash flow forecasting, and operational insights
- Support ERP implementations, system upgrades, and automation initiatives to optimize finance operations
- Provide accounting support for M&A, carve-outs, or purchase accounting as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leadership roles
- Prior experience in PE-backed businesses, public accounting (Big 4 or large regional firm), or consulting environments
- Deep understanding of GAAP, financial statement preparation, and the monthly close process
- Proven ability to manage audits, implement internal controls, and drive process improvements
- AI fluency with the ability to leverage tools for efficiency and accuracy
- Advanced Excel proficiency and familiarity with financial reporting and data visualization tools
- Strong communication skills to present financial information clearly to finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Ability to operate independently, manage multiple engagements, and work in fast-paced, dynamic environments
- Experience in fractional leadership or consulting across multiple portfolio companies preferred
- Exposure to M&A transactions, carve-outs, or purchase accounting is a plus
