General Statement of Responsibilities:
The Marketing Director oversees all marketing, outreach, and sales initiatives to achieve occupancy goals and promote the community’s brand. This role focuses on developing referral networks, implementing effective sales strategies, and ensuring a consistent, professional image in the marketplace. The Director will lead the Marketing team and spend the majority of their time developing relationships and promoting Lantern Crest within and outside of the community.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise all Marketing Department staff, including Retirement Counselors, to achieve occupancy and sales goals.
- Develop and implement organized marketing and sales strategies to move prospects through the admissions process efficiently and meet budgeted occupancy targets.
- Utilize recognized sales methods to generate qualified inquiries, referrals, and tours, maintaining strong closing ratios through effective information gathering and value-based presentations.
- Identify, build, and maintain a strong network of community and professional referral sources through consistent outreach, personal visits, and participation in networking functions and community events.
- Achieve and maintain required quotas for marketing contacts and external referral engagement each week.
- Accurately represent the community services, amenities, and pricing in all interactions to promote a positive image and ensure continued referral opportunities.
- Ensure all model, respite, and common areas are tour-ready daily; address any issues promptly and coordinate with the Executive Director on furnishings, decor, and readiness standards.
- Conduct regular walk-throughs of the community to maintain presentation standards and a welcoming environment for prospective residents and families.
- Prepare and submit required marketing reports weekly and review key performance metrics with the Executive Director, including census updates, inquiries, tours, deposits, and move-ins.
- Develop and complete competitive market analyses at least twice annually to assess trends and recommend marketing strategy adjustments.
- Track referral sources, inquiries, and conversion data to measure effectiveness and guide ongoing marketing improvements.
- Collaborate with the Admissions and Operations teams to ensure all necessary documentation and information are processed for successful move-ins.
- Participate in daily stand-up and department meetings to communicate key issues, share updates, and maintain alignment with overall community goals.
- Maintain current knowledge of senior living, assisted living, and dementia-specific care through ongoing education.
- Work a flexible schedule as needed to support events, tours, and community outreach.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field required. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 3–5 years of experience in sales or marketing—preferably within senior living, healthcare, or hospitality—will be considered. Proven success in achieving occupancy or sales goals and managing a marketing team is required.
Licenses/Certifications:
A valid driver’s license required with application submission and must be maintained throughout employment.

Must be responsible and able to exercise good judgment, accept administrative supervision, pay attention to detail, follow instructions, including the ability to interact effectively and communicate with people in a professional and courteous manner. Must be highly confidential and work as a team with other staff. Applicants should be sensitive to clients’ needs.

Strong team building, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective peer relationships with coworkers within the Department, community-wide, and the public. Must be able to express ideas clearly, concisely, address audiences effectively, and exercise balanced judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions. Willing to be part of a team and cooperate in accomplishing department goals and objectives. Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, take initiative, be proactive, and function in a rapidly changing environment. Ability to work with people of all social and ethnic backgrounds, resolve conflicts, negotiate situations, and facilitate consensus.
Physical and Personal Requirements:
Normal office environment. Sit or stand for long periods of time. Reach, bend, climb, stoop, lift up to 25 lbs. repetitive hand movement; use and view PC. Reliable transportation and car insurance as required by the state. Travel as needed.
Compliance:
Each employee plays a key role in creating a compliance culture. Employees are expected to learn and comply with all Lantern Crest policies and procedures. One must have the ability to understand the implications and complexities of all compliance policies. Participation in all compliance training is mandatory and generally has a heightened awareness of policies and regulations that are specific to one’s department and position. All Lantern Crest employees are expected to report violations or suspected violations of compliance policies or regulations.
Other:
Applicants must successfully pass a pre-screening tuberculin skin test or x-ray and a urine drug screen test. Candidates will be required to undergo a physical to ensure health is adequate to perform all duties of the position. Applicants must complete application and authorization form, both must be submitted to Human Resources prior to the close date indicated. Applicants will be required to undergo a background check consisting of fingerprinting and criminal records check with DOJ and FBI.
