Description: Examples of Duties
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
1.Responsible for installation, repair and maintenance of electrical, emergency and security systems for municipal buildings and facilities in the Town.
2.Performs a variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance and installation of all electrical, emergency and security equipment and problems that may arise from such installation.
3.Installs and repairs thermostats, gauges, cables, electrical services, electrical motors, generators, switches, relays, fire/security alarm systems, and any other lighting/electrical fixture or apparatus.
4.Tests, inspects and repairs emergency lighting systems.
5.Troubleshoots and repairs SCADA network systems.
6.Aids in the construction of new buildings, remodeling of existing buildings and all new additions, encompassing all Town of Trumbull owned or maintained buildings, stations, structures, etc.
7.Reviews electrical specifications on all buildings and capital projects.
8.Consults with engineers and architects on construction projects.
9.Responds to emergency calls.
10.May be required to perform the general duties of a Maintainer II; assists plumbers, carpenters, painters and masons in tasks less than those required to be skilled in those trades.
11.Assists in the snow removal and ice control operations, as required.
12.Performs all other work related duties as directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
1.Knowledge of standard principals & practices of the electrical trade.
2.Knowledge of local, state & national electrical building codes.
3.Knowledge and observance of all safety requirements relating to electrical work.
4.Knowledge of electrical tools and equipment.
5.Ability to operate building management systems.
6.Ability to comprehend and follow blueprints, engineering plans, electrical/wiring diagrams, and spec sheets.
7.Ability to estimate time and materials needed to complete projects.
8.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
9.Ability to communicate with and establish working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, vendors and consultants.
10.Ability to perform the physical tasks required to install and repair electrical equipment such as working at high elevations on ladders and scaffolds, operating equipment and machinery and working outside in the elements.
11.General knowledge of computers programs, such as, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
1.High School Diploma or GED.
2.Five (5) years of experience in the electrical construction field.
3.Must possess and maintain a current E-2 Journeyperson's Electrical License or E-1 Unlimited Electrical Contractor's License in the State of Connecticut.
4.Holds a CT CDL, Class B (Commercial Driver's License) or CT CDL permit; full CT CDL within six (6) months from the date of hire.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the direction of the Superintendent of Parks and Recreation or assigned supervisor. May be assigned to perform work in other departments. .
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May direct one or more workers of a lower classification.

The weight of the examination will be 100% experience and training. The candidates will be ranked based on their experience and training as it relates to the required experience and training for this position based on the information contained in their employment application, the supplemental questionnaire if applicable and any attachments they provide. This examination will be conducted for the Town of Trumbull by the Trumbull Civil Service Board within the authority of Section 7-413 of the 1959 revision of the State of CT General Statutes.
