Job Title: Community Engagement & Events Coordinator
Weekly Hours: 32–40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with flexibility for occasional evening and weekend events
Location: Chico, CA
Reports to: Community Engagement & Events Manager
Pay Range: $22.00 – $28.00 per hour
Estimated Annual Earnings: $28,600 – $43,680

About the Position
As a Community Engagement & Events Coordinator, you will support the planning, coordination, and execution of community engagement activities, events, donor engagement efforts, membership support, volunteer coordination, and outreach initiatives for The Arc of Butte County. This role is essential in helping strengthen community relationships, support fundraising and engagement efforts, and expand the organization’s visibility and impact.
This position provides administrative, logistical, and communications support to ensure successful events, accurate data tracking, and meaningful community connections. This is an on-site, part-time role with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position based on organizational needs and performance.
What You'll Do:
Support the planning, coordination, and execution of community engagement activities and events
Maintain accurate donor, membership, volunteer, and outreach records
Assist with donor acquisition, retention, thank-you letters, donation receipts, and follow-up reporting
Support membership outreach, engagement, renewals, and retention efforts
Assist with newsletters, community updates, website updates, and impact stories
Coordinate event logistics, including materials, vendors, and volunteers
Track event outcomes, outreach contacts, and follow-up activities
Assist with volunteer recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, engagement, and recognition
Attend community outreach events and represent The Arc of Butte County professionally
Set up and break down event materials and supplies
Provide administrative and operational support across community engagement functions
Maintain organized tracking systems and support internal coordination
Other duties as assigned
What You'll Bring:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
1–3 years of experience in community engagement, events, nonprofit support, communications, administration, or a related field
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general office software
Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, volunteers, and community partners
Professionalism, initiative, and a community-oriented mindset
Nonprofit experience preferred
Familiarity with CRM systems preferred
Experience supporting volunteer programs preferred

Physical Requirements:
Must pass a post-offer pre-employment background check, non-arduous physical, drug/TB screen
Ability to travel locally to meet with clients, partners, or attend events, if applicable
Ability to work in various environments, including office and community settings
Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation
May require occasional lifting (up to 25–30 lbs), standing, walking, or assisting individuals with mobility needs, if applicable
Work environment may include exposure to pet allergens. The Arc maintains a pet-friendly culture, and animals (such as the office cat) may occasionally be present in the workplace. Employees may also encounter pet allergens through donated items or community environments
