Job Description

Summary: Summary: The College of Arts and Sciences at Queens University of Charlotte invites applications for a visiting faculty position in Interior Architecture and Design. The selected candidate will join a collaborative department dedicated to multidisciplinary teaching and creative scholarship. This is a full-time, one-year position that begins in August 2026 with the possibility of renewal.

The Interior Architecture and Design program at Queens takes a practicum-based approach to design education. The selected candidate will teach a variety of courses in the program, including studio courses, based in part on expertise and interest. Additionally, there will be opportunities to engage in scholarship, participate in service, and mentor students-all to enrich the academic life of the university.

This position is exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay or compensatory time off for additional hours worked.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Applicants must hold at least one degree in Interior Design and an appropriate terminal degree.
  • Candidates should demonstrate evidence of effective university-level teaching or related experience in a comparable professional setting.
  • Applicants must show evidence of professional practice experience in interiors, substantiated through a professional portfolio and hold NCIDQ certification (or be eligible to complete certification).
  • Commitment to cultivating learning environments that foster a sense of belonging for all students.
  • Knowledge and professional practice in REVIT, Sketchup, Enscape, AutoCAD, and the Adobe Suite.
  • Non-Essential Duties:

    • Other duties and special projects may be assigned to meet school, college, or university needs.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using technology-supported pedagogies and active learning to engage students.
  • Additional professional credentials (e.g., LEED, WELL, and EBD).
