This role sits at the center of a high-impact total rewards function, shaping how compensation strategy supports talent attraction, retention, and fairness across a globally recognized media organization. You will act as a trusted advisor to HR, Finance, and senior leadership, helping design and govern compensation frameworks that balance market competitiveness, internal equity, and compliance requirements. The role spans base pay, incentives, and performance-based programs while also supporting complex organizational initiatives such as collective bargaining. You will operate as both a strategic thinker and hands-on compensation expert, leveraging data, benchmarking, and HR systems to drive decisions. This is a highly visible position where your work directly influences workforce strategy, employee experience, and organizational effectiveness across multiple business units and regions.
In this role, you will lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of compensation programs while serving as a key advisor on pay strategy and governance. You will ensure compensation practices are competitive, compliant, and aligned with business goals across diverse functions and geographies.
- Act as a strategic advisor to HR and senior leadership on compensation philosophy, structure, and pay decisions
- Design, implement, and manage base pay, bonus, and incentive compensation programs
- Lead annual compensation cycles including merit, bonus, and salary review processes
- Conduct market pricing, benchmarking, and salary survey analysis to ensure competitive positioning
- Support compensation strategy and planning related to collective bargaining agreements
- Ensure compliance with U.S. and international pay transparency and compensation regulations
- Partner with Finance on incentive planning and performance alignment
- Manage external compensation vendors, tools, and survey providers
- Leverage HR systems and compensation technologies to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability
- Drive process improvements, automation opportunities, and reporting enhancements
- Support HR Business Partners, Recruitment, and leadership on compensation planning and organizational changes
- Deliver training, guidance, and compensation education to internal stakeholders
- Ensure accuracy and quality control of compensation statements and communications
This role requires deep expertise in compensation strategy, strong analytical capability, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across complex organizational environments. You should be comfortable working with data, systems, and cross-functional partners to shape enterprise-wide compensation outcomes.
- 8–10 years of experience in compensation, total rewards, or related HR/finance roles
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, Finance, or related field (CCP certification preferred)
- Strong understanding of compensation structures, incentive design, and market benchmarking
- Experience managing compensation cycles in complex or multi-business environments
- Advanced Excel skills (modeling, pivot tables, data analysis)
- Strong knowledge of HRIS and compensation systems, including vendor management
- Experience with compensation surveys, tools, and external market data providers
- Strong communication and influencing skills with senior leadership and stakeholders
- Solid understanding of U.S. multi-state compensation compliance and pay transparency laws
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced and ambiguous environments
- Experience with unionized environments is a plus
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and data integrity
- Competitive base salary range: $120,000 – $135,000
