This senior executive role is responsible for shaping and driving the integrated fundraising and marketing strategy of a mission-driven national nonprofit organization. The Vice President of Development and Marketing will lead efforts to expand and diversify revenue streams across foundations, corporate partners, and individual donors while strengthening national brand visibility and impact. This position plays a pivotal role in aligning development and marketing functions to support sustainable growth and mission advancement across multiple states. You will collaborate closely with executive leadership, regional directors, and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent strategy execution and resource alignment. The role requires a balance of strategic vision and hands-on leadership to build scalable systems, strengthen donor engagement, and optimize campaign performance. You will also lead and develop high-performing teams while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation. Accountabilities:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive national fundraising strategy across foundation, corporate, and individual giving channels to support long-term revenue growth.
  • Set and monitor annual and multi-year fundraising goals aligned with organizational strategy and mission priorities.
  • Lead donor cultivation, stewardship, and retention strategies to strengthen relationships and maximize lifetime value.
  • Oversee marketing, communications, and brand strategy to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with revenue generation goals.
  • Integrate marketing and development efforts to drive awareness, engagement, donor conversion, and recruitment outcomes.
  • Provide centralized tools, training, and support to regional leaders responsible for state-level fundraising execution.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop development and marketing teams to ensure high performance and organizational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and the board to shape fundraising priorities and external engagement strategies.
  • Analyze fundraising and marketing performance data to inform strategy, improve effectiveness, and support decision-making.
  • Represent the organization externally with donors, partners, and key stakeholders as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit development, advancement, or related fundraising roles.
  • Proven success designing and leading large-scale, multi-channel fundraising programs with measurable revenue outcomes.
  • Strong experience in marketing, communications, or brand strategy within a mission-driven or nonprofit environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
  • Strong financial acumen with data-driven decision-making and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Experience leading senior-level teams in complex, multi-stakeholder organizations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with executive-level stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions, including programs, finance, and executive leadership.
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally as needed.
