About This Position
RN - Director of Nursing
The Director of Nursing oversees the nursing staff and overall nursing operations of their healthcare facility. Their duties include evaluating and directing all nursing employees, establishing goals for the nursing department and creating and enforcing compliant healthcare policies.

RN - Director of Nursing Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervision of all nursing service personnel.
- Development of nursing objectives, performance standards of nursing practice for all nursing personnel.
- Responsible for Nursing Policy & Procedures.
- Assist with preparation and manages the budget for the nursing department with the input of the Administrator.
- Direct, evaluate, and supervise resident care and initiates corrective action as is necessary..
- Evaluates resident care as related to individualized resident needs, family involvement, and the physicians' plan of care for the resident.
- Attends and actively participates in the resident/family care conferences.
- Monitors residents' response to medications and treatments and makes appropriate recommendations for nursing action to be implemented.
- Reports problems to the Administrator or Human Resources, initiating corrective action if necessary.
- Identifies safety hazards and initiates corrective action.
- Manages the emergency situations and initiation of lifesaving measures in the absence of a physician
- Assumes the responsibility for nursing service compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations.
- Conducts monthly nursing staff meetings with nursing personnel
- Consistently monitors the nursing service compliance within budgeted guidelines
- Monitors the nursing service equipment and supplies within the facility and establishes the guidelines for efficient, economical utilization of supplies and equipment
- Plan and ensure the availability of equipment necessary to care for the residents
- Assume and responsibility of scheduling nursing service personnel
- Monitor and interviews and hires nursing service personnel.
- Prepare nursing personnel's evaluations and recommend the salary increase, promotions and/or terminations.
- Work with the Administrator to prepare salary criteria
- Actively participate in facility staff meetings, supervisor's meetings, Safety Committee meetings
- Organize the implement with assistance Medicare and Medicaid criteria
- Completes the residents insurance benefit forms and initiates the claim with direct contact from the company.
- Establishes open lines of communication with consultants
- Actively participates in community activities
- Knowledge of Medicare pay system
- Participate in Quality Assurance Program for nursing.
- Work co-operatively with Administration, Nursing Service personnel, physicians, Community agencies, residents, families, and consultant
- Take call and work the floor as needed
- In the event of a pandemic or emergency situation, your job duties may adjust to serve in the role of frontline staff to ensure all resident needs are met

RN - Director of Nursing Required Education and Experience
- Holds a valid Illinois RN license
- Registered Nurse with a BSN and at least one (1) year of experience, or a Registered Nurse (no BSN) with at least three (3) years of experience (with two of those years in home health/community health) preferred
- General knowledge and understanding of state and federal regulations as they pertain to LTC
- Previous Director of Nursing experience preferred
- Must be able to show a high degree of physical work and personal interaction with co-workers and residents
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
