About This Position

Position Title: CDL Class A Driver
Department: Morgen Tree Farm - Shipping
Reports To: Foreperson Shipping
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary

We’re looking for a CDL Class A Driver to keep our plants (and our business) moving—transporting and delivering freight, including perishable plant material, between Bailey Nurseries locations and to external customers. This is a local driving position with no regular overnight routes, and includes hands-on help with loading/unloading and other support work when you’re not behind the wheel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate a tractor-trailer to shuttle freight between internal locations and complete deliveries to external customers.

  • Drive local routes (no regular overnight runs), completing all trips safely and on schedule while following company policies and DOT regulations.

  • Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections (DOT compliant) and meet company safety standards.

  • Report any safety concerns, maintenance needs, or repairs promptly to the appropriate personnel.

  • Ensure all shipping paperwork and documentation is accurate, available for DOT inspection, and accompanies shipments to delivery points.

  • Assist with loading/unloading as needed and confirm freight is properly secured at all times.

  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional, positive presence when interacting with customers and team members.

  • Support other assigned work when not driving.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid CDL Class A license.

  • Minimum 1 year tractor-trailer driving experience.

  • Experience operating manual transmission vehicles.

  • Must pass a background check, drug test, and clean MVR review.

  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid DOT medical card prior to hire.

  • Ability to operate—or willingness to learn—lift truck/forklift operation.

  • Ability to read and speak English well enough to communicate with customers and complete required documentation.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 60 lbs regularly.

  • Ability to work 40+ hours per week, with extended hours during peak season.

  • Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions and work some weekends during peak season.
