This role is responsible for leading the operations of a high-performance vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance facility supporting critical mission environments. You will oversee the repair, servicing, and readiness of a diverse fleet, ensuring operational reliability in extremely demanding conditions. The position combines hands-on technical oversight with strong leadership, workforce planning, and safety management responsibilities. You will coordinate daily shop activities, manage resources and budgets, and ensure compliance with strict operational and safety standards. Acting as both a technical authority and people leader, you will guide mechanics and support staff while ensuring training, quality, and efficiency across all maintenance operations. - Lead and enforce a safety-first culture, ensuring full compliance with workplace safety programs and regulatory standards across all maintenance operations.
- Supervise and coordinate maintenance and repair activities for light vehicles and heavy equipment, ensuring equipment readiness and adherence to manufacturer and industry standards.
- Plan, schedule, and prioritize work assignments while balancing workloads, staffing, and resources for optimal operational efficiency.
- Monitor work progress, cost control, material usage, and operational performance, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Oversee workforce training, onboarding, and performance management to ensure all personnel are qualified and effectively deployed.
- Manage facility budgeting, inventory, procurement planning, and annual re-supply requirements to meet operational deadlines.
- Conduct inspections, maintain documentation, track metrics, and ensure accurate reporting of maintenance and operational activities.
- Support field operations and remote sites by providing technical, labor, and material assistance as required.
- Two years of technical school training in a mechanical or related field.
- Minimum of eight years of experience in vehicle or heavy equipment maintenance.
- At least three years of supervisory experience in a maintenance or fleet operations environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including internal combustion engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and vehicle maintenance practices.
- Proven leadership, team management, and decision-making abilities in operational environments.
- Ability to assess risks, enforce safety standards, and ensure compliance with operational procedures.
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computer systems, including maintenance tracking, inventory, and labor management tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to work in extreme environmental conditions and deploy for extended assignments.
- Valid United States driver’s license required.
- Bachelor’s degree and experience with fleet management systems (such as Maximo) are preferred.
- Competitive annual salary ranging from $110,000 to $130,000.
