Position Summary:
We are seeking a qualified, motivated individual to join our company as a Full-Time Seasonal Scale House Clerk. As part of our team, the scale house clerk will use a computerized scale to weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles, logging information relevant to each truck, including vehicle type, tags, and driver. They will accurately record this data for billing purposes and perform regular audits to ensure appropriate record keeping. This position requires moderate computer proficiency, and our ideal candidate has prior experience with trucking, data entry, and industrial workplace safety. Our season runs from March through December, with seasonal layoffs through the winter months.
Essential Functions:
- Answering phones and greeting customers
- Operating computerized scale system to weigh trucks, trailers, and materials accurately and ensuring that all incoming and outgoing trucks are weighted, documented, and load information is verified.
- 2-way radio communication with the plant and loader operators.
- Manage transactions with customers using POS system
- Processing sales transactions and taking cash, credit, and check payments and issuing refunds as needed.
- Calculating and returning change for cash transactions and making weekly bank deposits.
- Accountability and accuracy in reconciling cash drawers, sales receipt, and records
- Prepares and maintains daily reports to send to home office.
- Responsible for recording, maintaining, and submitting various environmental reports to comply with state and federal regulations.
- Abides by, enforces, and participates in the implementation of company and OSHA safety standards and regulations.
- Work with other office personnel to keep office clean.

- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license and the ability to pass a physical examination and drug test.
- 2-5 years of experience in a variety of roles with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Knowledge in trucking or in an industrial yard environment preferred but not required.
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently.
- Maintain regular and dependable attendance
- Customer service oriented to maintain positive customer relationships.
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Must be able to work quickly, independently, and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail is required to correctly record weights and transaction records
- Proficiency with computer software and basic office equipment.

Office setting with controlled temperature and minimal noise. Incumbent must be able to sit for extended periods of time and tolerate working at a computer for most of their work duties.
