About This Position
The AM Grounds Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting with directing, planning, organizing, supervising, and participating in maintaining a clean, welcoming environment for our guests.
This position supports department management during morning operations by supervising employees, assisting with scheduling, training team members, and ensuring the Park opens clean, safe, and guest-ready. The AM Grounds Assistant Manager works closely with Grounds Supervisors and Attendants to uphold cleanliness standards, safety procedures, and guest service expectations.
Essential Functions of the Job
- During training periods, the AM Grounds Assistant Manager must be able to read and assimilate information provided in the Grounds Manual and Seasonal Employee Handbook and comprehend verbal and written instructions
- Assist department management with organizing and supervising daily morning Grounds operations
- Train, coach, and mentor team members, including onboarding new employees and reinforcing departmental standards
- Assist with employee scheduling, shift coverage, and staffing adjustments to meet operational needs
- Assign work locations and communicate expectations clearly at the start of shifts
- Monitor employee performance and provide direction, guidance, and feedback
- Ensure midways, picnic terraces, parking lots, and perimeter areas are maintained to park standards prior to opening
- Assist with trash removal operations, including proper equipment use and safety compliance
- Respond to guest concerns and employee issues in a calm and professional manner
- Enforce Lagoon policies, department procedures, and safety requirements
- Assist with equipment readiness, supply tracking, and reporting maintenance needs
- Maintain flexibility to work in different locations and remain knowledgeable in all Grounds workstations
- Willing and able to perform physical Grounds duties as needed
- Must be willing and able to perform all other job duties assigned by management
- Must be at least 18 years old to operate trash compactor equipment.
- Able to communicate effectively in a professional manner with coworkers, supervisors, subordinates, vendors, and Lagoon guests.
- Able to learn and understand all policies and procedures pertinent to the department/job.
- Able to work effectively independently as well as with a group.
- Able to respond quickly, calmly, and professionally to unusual situations during normal operation, including power failure and fire alarms.
- Able to make quick and effective decisions.
- Able to follow verbal and written directions.
- Able to follow safety practices and be safety conscious.
- Able to learn, comprehend, and enforce Lagoon policies and procedures.
- Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- This position requires the employee to work a variable weekly schedule, five to six days a week, from as early as 6:00 a.m. to as late as 1:00 a.m. including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions
- This position requires working in an environment that includes exposure to high noise levels, bright light or darkened areas, large crowds and other factors typical to an amusement park setting.
- This position will perform essential job duties outdoors and be exposed to environmental elements including, but not limited to, extreme heat or cold, wind, dust, noise, rain, snow, and direct sunlight.
- This is a part-time position and regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.

- Must have full use of hands, arms, and legs to reach, operate equipment, and use hands to handle or feel
- Able to regularly lift and/or move up to ninety (90) pounds
- Able to move equipment which would include pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting
- Able to walk quickly to and from job locations up to one (1) mile distance
- Must have good hearing and visual acuity to observe equipment, Lagoon guests, etc.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Able to read and understand daily checklists
- Requires early arrivals and/or late-night departures
